High Art and Low Country: A Friend-Raiser with Jonathan Green

The Friends of African American Art invite you to join them in marking the opening of Landscape of Slavery: The Plantation in American Art. Mingle with nationally renowned Gullah artist Jonathan Green and enjoy live music while feasting on a low country boil overlooking the beautiful Savannah River. Exhibition Symposium: Landscape of Slavery: The Plantation in American Art
10:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
This day-long symposium will focus on an array of topics related to the lives of African-Americans during the time of slavery. The program will begin with a special exhibition tour, followed by a series of lectures and performances on subjects such as the role of slavery in Augusta, the history of spirituals, race relations in Georgia, life at Redcliffe Plantation, and the quilt code myth that stems from tales of the Underground Railroad.
