Preparation
- Download the appropriate resource packet
- Discuss the museum etiquette guidelines included in the packet.
- Explain the agenda for the day to the students—where they are going, how long it will take, and what they can expect to see.
- Encourage students to return to the museum at another time to look at other artworks.
- Divide students into groups ahead of time to save time at the museum. Students in pre-K through second grade need to be in groups no larger than ten students each. Students in third through twelfth grades should be in groups of no more than fifteen. Each group must have at least one chaperone.
- Prepare you chaperones. Remind them they are responsible for the conduct of the group and must stay with the group at all times. You may wish to distribute copies of the tour resource packet to chaperones.
- Read your confirmation letter. This packet contains further information to help make the tour go smoothly.
