This exhibition was composed of more than sixty photographs from three bodies of work: “The Masters” of country music; the “Blue Line Hotshots” Marty Stuart has met on his travels on America’s back roads; and the Lakota people of the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation and others in South Dakota in the section “Badlands.” It was accompanied by a fully-illustrated hardcover book. Published by Vanderbilt University Press, it included a lengthy introduction by Stuart.

This exhibition also included an opening celebration with Marty Stuart and Manuel of “Manuel American Designs”, and was organized by the Frist Center for the Visual Arts, Nashville, TN. It was sponsored in-part by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Augusta Convention & Visitors Bureau.
