The Museum is Closed Until Further Notice
March 23, 2020 @ 12:00 am - May 5, 2020 @ 11:59 pm
Dear Friends,
As you already know, the Morris Museum of Art has been closed to the public since last week.
We had hoped to reopen on April 6, but find now that we simply can’t. I regret to say that the museum will now remain closed until further notice. Toward the end of the month, we will again evaluate the situation and determine when we can safely reopen. Though necessary, the museum’s closing is not a happy thing.
Tomorrow will be the last day that anyone will be in the office for a little while. In response to Governor Kemp’s directive to “shelter in place”, all of us will be working from home. We are, as always, principally concerned with the health and well-being of visitors, staff, and volunteers.
All public programs for the month of April are cancelled. Those that can be rescheduled, will be rescheduled. Keep an eye on the museum’s website. Information will appear there.
That said, there is still much to share, and you will find it on the museum’s website and on social media—Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest. You will find beautiful images from the permanent collection, staff-selected works of art—everyone here is delighted to have this opportunity to make a case for a personal favorite—games and activities for youngsters (and oldsters), an overview of the museum’s current exhibition LUSTER: Realism and Hyperrealism in Contemporary Automobile and Motorcycle Painting, and more.
We view this as an opportunity to share, however, so we’re counting on you to let us know what you would like to see more of. We’ll respond. Keep an eye on your inbox for periodic updates.
These are challenging times, no doubt about it, but we intend to make the most of the extraordinary resource that the Morris Museum of Art represents. And we look forward to this opportunity for mutual engagement.
We look forward to seeing you soon. Meantime, be well.
Yours,
Kevin Grogan
Director
